The firm was founded in 2002 by David Hughes. After 15 years as a senior corporate finance partner in the major law firm Pinsent Masons, David decided to set up David Hughes Legal to focus on advising UK and foreign privately-owned companies both in the West Midlands and elsewhere in the UK. The firm is based in the city of Wolverhampton, where he also lives.

David gained his law degree at Oxford University, and then worked for seven years with the leading London law firms, Slaughter and May and Nabarro Nathanson, before moving to join Pinsent Masons in Birmingham in 1985.

After seven years as head of corporate finance in Birmingham, he established the firm’s German Desk in 1998. He is a member of the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

He has consistently been recognised by the two leading independent UK legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers, as one of the leading corporate/commercial lawyers in the UK regions.
